VeeV Acai Spirit: Celebrate Labor Day the Brazilian Way
While the United States observes Labor Day, Monday, September 7, by getting in the last ditch summer barbeque, back yard pool party or neighborhood blowout season ending celebration, Brazil celebrates their Independence Day. This Labor Day keep the celebration festive Brazilian style by raising a toast with refreshing VeeV.
VeeV Acai Spirit uses the super fruit that comes from the Brazilian rainforest. No matter the hype behind the super rich, super anti-oxidant, super fruit…this Intoxicologist is not convinced that infusing, distilling and packaging the tiny berry into a bottle of liquor maintains quality health benefits that are rendered the same when consuming the actual berry when it is in its original state. My opinion on VeeV weighs in on the flavor of the spirit. It tastes great, light, refreshing, not overpowering on the sweetness factor as far as ordinary liqueurs often pour from the bottle in syrupy form. No, VeeV Acai Spirit just plain mixes well whether one chooses to simply add a squeeze of lemon or lime and a spritz of club soda or gets really creative with additional spirits and dashes and doses of this and that mixers.
Brazilian Rickey
2 ounces VeeV Açai Spirit
1 Lemon Slice
1 Lime Slice
1 Orange Slice
3 ounces Tonic
Citrus Wheel, For Garnish
Shake the VeeV and citrus wedges with ice. Pour into a highball glass adding additional ice if necessary. Top with tonic. Stir and garnish with the citrus wheel.
Another great benefit of VeeV is their inclusion of low calorie cocktails to their lineup of drink recipes this summer. VeeV created six cocktails all weighing in at under 150 calories. Ordinary cocktails usually carry a calorie count averaging between 250 to 330 calories. VeeV changed that with its VeeV It Up for 93.3 calories and Pomegranate Acai Lemonade for 100 Calories. VeeV cocktails are a great way to keep summer bikini season carrying through fall and winter. No more dreading bikini season next spring!
VeeV Brazilian Thyme
2 ounce VeeV Açai Spirit
1/2 Orange
2 Lemon Wedges
Thyme
Muddle 2 lemon wedges, half an orange and thyme in a mixing glass. Add VeeV Açai Spirit and ice. Shake. Strain into a glass over fresh ice.
VeeV also takes advantage of fresh fruits of the season. Earlier in the summer blackberries, raspberries and blueberries combined with cucumber, pear and hibiscus for some wonderful creations ranging from adapted Classic Mojitos to versions of Sangria. Now VeeV Acai Spirit takes one of the largest, juiciest fruits of the season, the ever popular watermelon, and muddles it to magically delicious with a sprig of mint. VeeV has also released a few new cocktails for fall so don’t miss those!
2 ounce VeeV Açai Spirit
1-1/2 ounce Fresh Watermelon Juice
8 Sprigs of Fresh Mint
A Lime Wedge
A Dash of Sugar
Watermelon Wedge Garnish
Muddle watermelon, mint, lime and sugar in the bottom of a mixing glass. Add VeeV Acai Spirit and ice. Shake to blend and chill. Strain into a highball glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a fresh watermelon wedge.
Imagine the creative possibilities to be thought up and brought to fruition with this wonderful spirit inspired by the little Acai berry from the Brazilian Rainforest. Sample VeeV chilled or on the rocks to get a base profile of this spirit and then begin including it in some of your favorite cocktails as a substitute for such liqueurs as triple sec or sweeteners such as simple syrup. It’s a wonderful liqueur to play with, so do so and start creating. And enjoy your Brazilian Independence Day celebration as your enjoy your own Labor Day holiday.
Saudé!
