The Ruby Twist tequila cocktail was inspired by a cocktail offered years ago at a local brewing company. It was really nice to see something other than a margarita on the menu. Upstream Brewing Company in the Omaha Old Market served their drink with lemonade and lime cordial on the rocks. A little creative play and additional ingredients brought their tequila long drink into premium cocktail range.

Orange radiates with remarkable flavor. There are heavy, yet smooth notes of vanilla. The flavors round out nicely giving this cocktail beautiful full texture and decadent mouth feel.

Ruby Twist – recipe by Mixologist Cheri Loughlin

1-1/2 ounce Reposado Tequila

1-1/2 ounce Pomegranate Liqueur

3/4 ounce Premium Orange Liqueur

Thick Fresh Lemon Twist Garnish

Combine liquids in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to blend and chill. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Twist a fresh lemon rind over the cocktail so the essential oils spray into the drink. Drop lemon twist into the cocktail.

This little gem of a cocktail weighs in at about 48.63 proof {adding in approximately 1 ounce water dilution during the shake and chill process.} Please sip responsibly.

I used Cielo Tequila, PAMA Liqueur and Cointreau during the creation process.
