Conjuring Up Spirited Cocktails with Conjure Cognac

Conjure Cognac Neat - Crafted by Chris “Ludacris” Bridges - photo property of The IntoxicologistTo say cognac with its centuries of tradition has been ‘thrust into the future with the introduction of Conjure’ is a slight understatement.  In most circles Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, one of the names behind the collaborative effort that created Conjure Cognac, is better known for musical talents that brought forth songs such as ‘Everybody Drunk as F**k’ and ‘One More Drink’.  Obviously the Cognac region of France has been rocked or ‘rapped’ might be the more appropriate term.

Chris Bridges offers more than mere ‘rapper cognac’ to the playing field.  At first passing glance the bottle appears to have artistic minuscule designs wrapping the glass.  Peering closer you’ll find the most obvious nuance that this cognac is conjuring up subtle, yet innovative marketing for a brand definitely thrusting itself beyond tradition.  These stylized markings are that of women’s curvaceous figures reminiscent of the widely recognized Trademark Playboy bunny figure or any number of women silhouetted in the opening credits of many of the original James Bond movies; classy, sexy, yet leaving the imagination to conjure up the rest.

Conjure’s color is fabulous; deliciously golden amber.  Holds nicely to the glass before tears quickly form.  Conjure Cognac’s flavor is nutty, that of pecan and walnut.  It is thinner than expected with some burn, but still quite nice.  This is not thick or sickly sweet.  Conjure launching this time of year gives thought to fall style cocktails with heartier fruits and richer flavor.  This cognac would fare well combined with bourbons and whiskies.

Conjuring the Spirit Cocktail Drink Recipe created by The Intoxicologist - Conjure Cognac crafted by Chris “Ludacris” Bridges - photo property of The IntoxicologistConjuring the Spirit – created by The Intoxicologist

1 ounce Conjure Cognac

1/2 ounce Apricot Brandy

1 teaspoon Taylor Fladgate 10 Year Old Tawny Porto

Orange Twist

Place liquid ingredients into a mixing glass.  Twist fresh orange peel into the mixing glass and drop into the mixture.  Add two cubes ice.  Stir with mixing spoon for twenty seconds.  Strain into snifter leaving orange twist in the mixing glass.  Allow cocktail to warm by the touch of your hands.

Conjuring the Spirit contains a fall to winter like feel.  Great holiday style drink recipe for cocktail parties.  Extremely warming.  This recipe could also do double duty as a dessert cocktail with its undercurrents of nutty fruitcake feel and sweetness rounding out the edges.  Conjuring the Spirit is best after it warms to room temperature.
