It’s always a pleasure to sample spirits of many ranges, but exceedingly enjoyable when it’s bourbon. Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2010 edition brings warmth and luxury to the fall season.
Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2010
47.5% alcohol, 95 proof. Aged in oak 12 years.
Terrific dark honey color
Aroma: Hint of cherry, maple to honey, slight bit of sweetness. Burn that dissipates and becomes quite the tickle deep in the back of the throat. That’s when you know…it’s time to taste!
Tasted Neat: Quite a bit of burn tasted neat. Seems to long for a splash of water or ice to open the flavor up a bit.
Sampled with Splash of Water
Aroma: Few floral notes rise to the surface. Hint of barely there chocolate with marzipan and cream.
Taste: Anise, almond nut, mocha leaning toward more coffee than chocolate, sweetness is far removed. Faintest note of butterscotch that barely plays ‘tag you’re it’ with the senses before retreating back into the recess of play.
If your preference is enjoying Old Forester Birthday Bourbon neat, by all means do so. The purpose of spirits is not taking pleasure in them according to someone else’s guidelines; it is appreciating them according to your own preference. Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2010 release is certainly a pleasant one to experience.
