The Cherry Blossom drink is nicely sweet with lovely lemon tartness around the edges. The flavor is as fresh as the drink looks. Regular cranberry juice cocktail could be used for this drink, but it would of course change the color. White cranberry juice is a tiny bit sweeter than regular cranberry juice cocktail in my opinion. But certainly use what you have on hand if this drink strikes your fancy.

Cherry Blossom Drink Recipe

Cherry Blossom – recipe by Cheri Loughlin, The Intoxicologist

2 ounces Cruzan Black Cherry Rum

1/4 ounce Orgeat Almond Syrup

3 ounces White Cranberry Juice

Lemon Powder and Sugar Rim

Lemon Slice and Maraschino Cherry Garnish

*Rim – Equal parts Sun Crystal & Tru Lemon packets combined.

Rim: Mix equal parts Sun Crystal and Tru Lemon packets. This is a natural sugar and unsweetened lemon powder. Place mixture on a shallow plate. Rim goblet with lemon wedge. Dip the rim into the sugar and lemon powder mixture. Place ice in the glass and set aside while preparing the drink.

Place black cherry rum, almond syrup and cranberry juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to blend. Strain into the prepared goblet. Garnish with a speared maraschino cherry wrapped with fresh lemon slice.
