This Cherry Limeade’s secret ingredient is a super easy Maraschino Cherry Infused Rum.

This Cherry Limeade tastes like a very famous drive-in Cherry Limeade drink only this time it is rum soaked and fabulous! Cherry Limeade makes a nice refreshing poolside drink and party sipper. Excellent for summer! This recipe converts nicely for a non-alcohol version, too. Skip the rum and use the frozen limeade concentrate, maraschino cherry juice, sprite and regular maraschino cherries for a kid friendly version.

Cherry Limeade – recipe by Cheri Loughlin, The Intoxicologist

Single Serve

1 ounce Maraschino Cherry Infused Rum* (recipe at bottom of post)

1-1/4 ounce Frozen Limeade Concentrate – thawed

1/2 ounce Maraschino Cherry Syrup – (from a regular jar of maraschino cherries)

6-1/2 ounces Sprite (Lemon Lime Soda)

3 or 4 Maraschino Cherries Infused with Rum (or regular maraschino cherries)

Lime Wedge

Place rum, frozen lime concentrate and maraschino cherries in a tall glass with ice. Stir to blend. Top with sprite. Stir again briefly to blend. Be careful not to stir too vigorously or the Sprite will go flat. Garnish with a lime wedge. Squeeze the lime wedge for a hint more tartness to the drink or just drop it in. The option is yours.

Cherry Limeade Party Size Recipe

It wouldn’t be a party without a party size batch of Cherry Limeade. The party size recipe makes approximately 95 ounces. This is too much for an average pitcher size. Make sure your container is large enough or divide the recipe in half and make it in two containers.

Maraschino Cherry Infused Rum – recipe by Cheri Loughlin, The Intoxicologist

10 ounces Silver Rum

1 – 10 ounce jar Maraschino Cherries with stems

Pour rum into pint size glass jar with lid. Strain maraschino cherry syrup from jar of cherries, saving the syrup. Add the cherries to the jar containing the rum. Return the maraschino cherry syrup to its original container. Seal both containers and refrigerate. The Maraschino Cherry Infused Rum takes approximately 5 days. Give the jar a shake or two every day to stir the contents of the jar. The rum becomes a little thicker and sweeter and the cherries soak up some of the rum.

Cherry Limeade in single serve or party size is excellent for summer sipping, backyard barbeques, poolside serve and holidays where red drinks are appropriate such as Memorial Day and Independence Day / Fourth of July.

I used Shellback Rum during the creation process. However, feel free to use the rum of choice to recreate this drink at home. Happy sipping!
