National Vodka Day, October 4, recognizes the truly tasteless spirit with a day set aside to call its own. Some have labeled vodka as unsavory due to its flavorless nature, cloaking capability in cocktails and ability to infuse a rainbow of flavors from bubble gum to bacon. However this do-gooder spirit is more than a dull stunt dummy along for the ride. Vodka imparts courage to the cocktail, oomph to the liqueur and backbone for the main squeeze. It remains eternal as it continues to stand the test of time in classic cocktails and revitalizes stale bar menus with fun, fresh, contemporary cocktails with youthful appeal.
