The Alligator Shot has many variations including Sex with an Alligator {sour mix, melon liqueur, raspberry liqueur and herbal liqueur}, the Sexy Alligator {melon liqueur, pineapple juice, amaretto liqueur and herbal liqueur} and an Alligator Bite {melon liqueur, over proof rum, herbal liqueur, raspberry liqueur, sour mix} to name a few. The Alligator can also be made into a simple long drink for an easy tailgating recipe with 1 part melon liqueur to 2 parts orange juice. Add a splash of rum or herbal liqueur for extra flavor if you like. The traditional Alligator Shot many are already familiar with is below.
Alligator Shot Recipe
Alligator Shot
1/2 ounce Melon Liqueur
1/2 ounce Coconut Rum
1/2 ounce Pineapple Juice
Dash Raspberry Liqueur
Float Herbal Liqueur {Jägermeister}
Combine first three ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled shot glass. Slide raspberry liqueur down side of shot glass so it slips nicely to the bottom. Float Jager over the top. Alternative: Shake all ingredients in shot glass and strain into chilled shot glass. It will ultimately taste the same going down!
Make the Alligator Shot a long drink by adding a little extra pineapple juice, orange juice and splash of rum. Serve over ice in a highball glass.
Alligator Shot Tailgate and Football Team Pairing Ideas
The Alligator Shot would pair nicely with Florida Gator tailgate and football watch parties. Many college campuses have a policy of no alcohol on campus, so please keep within the guidelines of the law and campus code.
Football Tailgating Drinks and Shots Quick Links
Keep in mind that many shots contain a quick dose of alcohol that is the equivalent to a full sized cocktail without filler soda or juice. While shooting a shot quickly might seem like nothing at first, it still packs a wallop to the body and must be taken into consideration when counting how many drinks one has consumed over the course of a day or evening. Pace yourself so you and others can enjoy game day.
