There’s more to autumn than donning a super comfy sweater, leggings and boots for a stomp through all the colorful falling leaves. There are Hot Toddies, Mulled Wine and a plethora of rye whiskey cocktails just waiting to be sipped.
Embrace fall with the savory rye-forward recipes below. These recipes include a splash of out of the ordinary flavor to begin your fall cocktail journey.
Rye + Chartreuse = Kentucky Sunset
Kentucky Sunset – recipe by Adrienne Oaks, Upland
1-1/2 ounce Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel Rye
1/2 ounce Yellow Chartreuse
1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
1/2 ounce Fresh Lemon Juice
1/2 ounce Fresh Orange Juice
2 Blackberries
Blackberry & Mint Garnish
Combine all liquid ingredients and two blackberries in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake. Double strain into a rocks glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with blackberry and mint sprig.

Rye + Amaro = Rye Opener
Rye Opener
2 ounces Alberta Rye Dark Batch Whisky
1/2 ounce Amaro Ramazzotti Liqueur (Find more information about Ramazzotti here)
1/4 ounce Coffee Liqueur
1/8 ounce Rich Simple Syrup (recipe here)
2 dashes Orange Bitters
2 dashes Aromatic Bitters (such as Angostura)
Flamed Orange Peel Garnish
Place all liquid ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until chilled. Strain into chilled cocktail glass or strain into a rocks glass over a large cube of ice. Garnish with a flamed orange peel. Learn how to flame an orange peel here.

Rye + Suze = Golden Rye
Golden Rye – recipe by Adrienne Oaks, Upland
2 ounces Wild Turkey 101 Rye
1/2 ounce Suze (learn about Suze here)
1/4 ounce Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao
Barspoon (1 teaspoon) Simple Syrup
1 dash Celery Bitters
1 dash Orange Bitters
Lemon Twist
Place all liquid ingredients in a mixing glass. Stir. Pour into rocks glass over a single large cube of ice. Garnish with lemon twist.
