The Americano cocktail is no doubt a classic and easy build, three ingredient drink. Though it is also often overlooked on many basic cocktail menus, its versatility is quite amazing. There is slight sharpness layered within the swell of this sweetened red spirited drink. It could easily play out well as a holiday drink with its vibrant red color and deep, lush flavor. However, change the traditional ratio just a fraction and the Americano becomes one of those cocktails that changes with the seasons.

The Americano Drink Recipe

Americano

1 ounce Campari

1 ounce Sweet Vermouth

1 ounce Club Soda

Orange Slice Garnish

Build over fresh ice in rocks glass.

Since the classic Americano recipe is so full bodied, I prefer a tad more club soda as topper to thin out the lushness for warmer weather sipping. My ratio is 1 ounce Campari, 1 ounce Sweet Vermouth, 2 ounces Club Soda. The vibrant color and flavor still abound with gentler sip.
