Tweaking classic cocktails with different spirits keeps happy hour, brunches and informal gatherings flavorful and interesting. This variation on the classic Bloody Mary brings a hint of bitter sweet to the glass. Use gin in place of bourbon according to your preference. Both make Twisted Sister with Campari a treat.

Twisted Sister – created by Cheri Loughlin

1 ounce Campari

1 ounce Bourbon

5-1/2 ounces V-8 or Tomato Juice

1/2 ounce Soy Sauce

1 teaspoon Crushed Fresh Ginger

1 teaspoon Cilantro Flakes or 4 to 5 sprigs Fresh Cilantro

pea size Wasabi Paste

Salt to taste

Asparagus Spears Garnish

Place all ingredients except garnish in cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to blend thoroughly. Strain into large rocks or highball glass over fresh ice. Garnish with asparagus spears. Variation: Exchange bourbon for gin if desired.
