Simple Syrup is the standard sweetener for many cocktails. But a little Brown Sugar Syrup gives a deeper, richer flavor to your drink. Try it in a Daiquiri made with darker rum for starters. Or try it in this lightly spiced, peachy punch.
Brown Sugar Syrup – created by Cheri Loughlin
1 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Water
1 ounce Vodka – optional
Place in saucepan over low heat. Stir continuously until barely begins to simmer. Remove from heat. Allow to cool. Add optional vodka for longer shelf life. Store in sealed container in refrigerator.
